icemandan finaly were at the last of the keys and a stumper of a question if you ask me. i could not make out the writting on the bag, but with the help of this forum i found out what five of the six items were. when i first seen them my first impression was JUNK! but to much my surprise they are three bronze roman ring keys and two roman made of iron door keys (i think) can anyone tell me what the heck the sixth item is. is it really a key or perhaps a roman pendant of some sort, i have scoured the internet looking at roman keys, but the only thing it looks close to is a pendant, and i am fine with that if that is what it is. the only reason i raise this question is, the keys that i got were probably less then 10% of the total key collection, and i am not so sure they would have kept it, if it was not some sort of key. the item in question is the oval shaped piece. it has tree holes in it with a triangle in the middle and two small protrussions at the wide part of the triangle. which may have been used to turn some sort of lock.
Gerry hello icemandan, the 5 pieces are real keys from roman, nearly 2000 years old. the 6th item i dont know. i dont believe in a key. gerry
Brian Denyer The Irish Plug Eight handcuff has a similar 2 tab end on the key to unscrew the plug sealing the handcuff keyway. So prisoner could play with the lock until they removed the top plug. It was a Dual Locking System for added security. So perhaps it was some sort of screwing device for locks? We may never know due to our ancestors takig much of the history to the grave with them.
