looking for someone to appraise keys my dad left me

Hello,

I have need of a knowledgeable person to look over the keys left to me by my dad. I have been trying to research them but there are too many. Besides the ILCO, keil, sargent, ruswin, etc. I found Hartman and rockford (cabinet lock co.), welch, RAC (union), Chantrell, supplee, fox, hurd, exclesior, presto, all lock, abus, rugol?,reese, sosy and a whole lot of what I call skeleton keys. There is a set of car keys? one says chrysler, one says gas and the other is a yale key that says made in the usa for Henssler 13th street, a couple keys with no manufacturer, one with ? balto locksmith and a set of army truck keys. What is a key marked Louis vuitton for?

I would be most grateful If you could please refer me to someone in the Baltimore metro area.

I can’t help with any local references for you. The Loius Vuitton key has possibilities. A French designer/manufacturer of high end luggage and handbags. Started in 1854, some of there marked steamer trunk keys average $40-60.00 on Ebay lately. I never thought the keys were so collectable, probably re-furbishers trying to match keys to trunk, don’t know for sure why the price, but they almost always sell. Good luck with the collection.

Without any images I’m guessing most are probably common garden variety keys like you find in cigar boxes at flea markets. Might be of some interest to a collector but likely nothing of any great value. My two cents.

Keys in allot of cases are a easy way to collect and not put out much money. The ones that are marked can be worth something or scrap such as mentioned above. Pictures would be helpful.

Yale keys are something to keep an eye out for as some of those can be worth a bit.
