Shammon Hi, Another lock I am going to clean up and this time make a key for as I dont sadly have one that fits it. I have several later Charles Smith & sons locks but this looks to me earlier as it states “Smiths” on the end of the lock bar. Any one have any info or can advise if im right? Thanks
Richard Phillips Probably this is a 20C lock. In the mid-19C Smith were making a simpler lock, the Pentonville cell lock, invented by Thomas, 1842 (PRICE Treatise p479).
