Cheers Dean- We’ve had this one for probably 50+ years now. Was more of a lucky ‘acquisition’ perhaps, rather than a ‘find’ like I said in the post, but lucky all the same. It’s not like they’re everywhere to be had here in Britain, and I think there’s more chance of coming across one which is still in use on it’s box or chest, than finding a loose lock and key like this one.
It always amazes me that if you want one of his silver or gold pencils, or even a set of silver place-name holders to impress your dining guests 🙁yawn):, you could take your pick from hundreds on offer from antique shops and dealers, online auctions etc. But try and find one of his locks, or something that’s fitted with one- even a broken one- anything at all! 🙁shake):
I guess it’s all the searching, hunting and everything that happens along the way that makes the ‘chase’ worthwhile! 🙁happy):
