Early eagle logo lock marked D & M

I found this lock in a family barn that dates back to the Civil War. It is very similar to some shown in a book on items from the year 1865. I tried to find Eagle Lock Co early logos on line to no avail.
D&M could be either of two railroads (MI & WI) The hasp is missing but the pin for it is still intact and undamaged. Any ID help would be appreciated.

The branding on that lock doesn’t have any association with the Eagle Lock Co. It stands for Davenport, Mallory & Co. The company name was established in 1861 and ended with the deaqth of MR. Mallory in 1865 when it was changed to Mallory, Wheeler & Co.

So your smoke house lock has a small window of time when it could have been manufactured, 1861 to 1865.

Thanks. That covers the period. The barn was started just prior to the Civil War and finished after.

I believe your lock is a little older and rarer than the earlier post suggests.
Here are the ballpark years of operation of the eventual Mallory, Wheeler & Company, as it changed names.

There are a lot of “D, M & Co” branded locks out there (₁₈₆₀-₁₈₆₈), and even more “M W & Co”. But as I understand it, the earlier Davenport & Mallory Company (note the ‘&’ between the D&M, not the M&Co") existed from 1853 - 1858 and I’ve seen only a very few locks with that branding.
