President locks

I am trying to find more information on these locks IF anyone may know something. I have 4 of them new in the box of three different models. They are unit locks but of a CHEAP model.

Well I now know that Vimcar Sales Company was just after WWII and after that they were sold to later make Weslock Lock Manufacture. So now we know the secret of this lock if you should find one.

If you look at the latch it really is obvious that it was Weslock.

I think it was just yesterday someone on Clearstar posted about this lock looking for a replacement for the latch. Seems the latch wears out on them.

Howdy BBE,

That would have been my post on Clearstar,

I had been doing some searching for info on the locks and heard via my customer that there were photos on Google Images, which brought me here to Halflock’s post,

It appears I would have had the info faster if I had posted on Locksmith Community, or been registered & posted here,

Yep, a very rare bird anymore. I am surprised that the lock lasted as long as it did as they were only made in the late 1940’s and early 1950’s. But like all Weslock’s designs they are doomed to fail.
