Mappins Patent safe lock

This is an example of a rare ‘stepped’ key Mappins safe lock. Similar to the Cotterill except it uses and ‘ pin ’ and ‘ driver ’ system like modern pin tumbler locks but with the principle applied to Cotterill’s design. I will find some internal images of another lock and add them as a follow up to this post.

Hi, is the key in the lock the original and the other a copy? and is the key off a Whitfield safe? Does it have F or S Whitfield on the key? Sorry for all the questions but i think i may have managed to get hold of a stepped key after a while searching, I just need to wait for the postman to see. Thankyou
