Dean & Doug, I wish I would have taken pictures of the process, but at tjhe time I was just playing around and figured no one would care but me. What I started with was a solid block of brass square stock. I made the keys with basicly hand and simple bench tools. I started by cutting the brass stock to the height and width with a hack saw.I then drilled the hole in the end approximately 1/64″ larger than the post of the lock. I then measured the depth of the keyway and marked that on the blank. Using a bench grinder, hack saw, jewelers saw, files and a jewelers flex shaft, I wittled the brass into the basic shape. The key with the “S” on the end was my own design, the “S” being for Simmons Hrd Co. The “S” was first scribed out on the blank, then a series of holes were drilled through, then it was cut out using a Jewelers saw. After using the flex shaft and numerous files to smooth out the shape, it was polished to the shine. The bits were impressioned and hand cut as well. If I ever do this again, I’ll be sure to take a lot of pics, Mark:8):
