alex harris Hi, Would anybody be able to help with the date of this large padlock. I bought it a few weeks ago at a carboot (Winchester, Southern England). Provenance; found on a farm - this was very rusty when I got it, and have partially cleaned it up. It is in working order but with no key. It shows heavy usage. Length closed approx 26.5cm. Richard Phillips Not like anything I’ve seen. Pitt Rivers’ book on the distribution of old locks has several pictures of this type of lock, which was widespread. Without any confidence, I venture the suggestion of Tibetan, but it is much better than one I had which might have come from that part of the world.
